Sen. Bernie Sanders said during a campaign rally in Iowa this weekend that he “does not support open borders” and the United States simply “can’t do it.”
An audience member suggested Sanders had supported such a proposal, but Sanders interrupted him quickly, “Who do you think is suggesting opening borders?”
“This is not my view. I think what we need is comprehensive immigration reform. If your point is, open the borders, my god, there’s a lot of poverty in this world and you’re going to have people from all over the world, and I don’t think that is something we can do at this point. So that is not my position.”
